Hindi audio to text

Choose a Hindi recording to get it typed in Devanagari, or tick Translate to English for an English transcript. Use Accurate mode for the best Hindi results.

How to convert Hindi audio to text

  1. Choose the Hindi recording. Hindi and Accurate mode are already selected.
  2. Leave Translate to English off to get Devanagari text, or tick it for an English transcript.
  3. Wait for the lines to appear and check them.
  4. Copy or download the result as text or subtitles.

Hindi, Hinglish and translation

The model writes Hindi in Devanagari. Everyday speech often mixes English words into Hindi; those usually come out in Devanagari too, or occasionally in Roman letters. If you need clean English for a report or subtitles, Translate to English is often the more useful result.

Accuracy in Hindi is good on clear speech but below English, so read through names, places and numbers before relying on the text.

Common uses

Turning coaching-class and college lectures into notes, getting a written copy of interviews and family voice notes, and making Hindi or English subtitles for YouTube videos.

Frequently asked questions

Is my recording uploaded to a server?

No. The speech model is downloaded to your browser once and the audio is transcribed on your own phone or computer. The file never leaves your device.

Why is the first transcription slower?

The first time, your browser downloads the speech model (about 40 MB for Quick, 80 MB for Balanced, 250 MB for Accurate). After that it is cached and starts in seconds, even offline.

How long can the recording be?

There is no fixed limit. An hour-long lecture works on most laptops; on a phone, recordings under about 30 minutes are more comfortable. Lines appear while it works, so you can stop at any point and keep what is done.

Why is Accurate selected for Hindi?

The smaller models are trained mostly on English and make more mistakes in Hindi. Accurate is a larger download but gets Hindi words noticeably more right.

Can I get Hindi in Roman letters (Hinglish)?

Not directly. The model writes Hindi in Devanagari, or translates it to English if you tick Translate to English.
