Interview transcription
Choose an interview recording and get a timestamped transcript. Sensitive conversations stay on your device.
How to transcribe an interview
- Choose the recording.
- Pick Accurate if there are accents or background noise.
- Keep Timestamps on, then download the text.
- Add speaker names (for example Q: and A:) while you read it through.
Quoting accurately
Use the timestamps to replay any quote before you publish it; speech models occasionally mishear a word in a way that changes the meaning. The tool does not label speakers, so mark who is talking as you check the transcript.
Why privacy matters here
Interviews often contain personal details, unpublished information or research data covered by consent forms. Because nothing is uploaded, you are not sending participants' voices to a third-party service.
Frequently asked questions
Is my recording uploaded to a server?
No. The speech model is downloaded to your browser once and the audio is transcribed on your own phone or computer. The file never leaves your device.
Why is the first transcription slower?
The first time, your browser downloads the speech model (about 40 MB for Quick, 80 MB for Balanced, 250 MB for Accurate). After that it is cached and starts in seconds, even offline.
How long can the recording be?
There is no fixed limit. An hour-long lecture works on most laptops; on a phone, recordings under about 30 minutes are more comfortable. Lines appear while it works, so you can stop at any point and keep what is done.
Does it separate the speakers?
No. Speaker labels are not available yet; add them while you check the transcript.
