Voice note to text

Save the voice message to your phone, choose it here and read it in seconds. Voice notes stay on your device.

How to turn a voice note into text

  1. Save the voice note to your phone (see the steps below).
  2. Choose the file here. Quick mode is selected because voice notes are short.
  3. Read the message, copy it, or download it as text.

Saving a voice note from WhatsApp

Android: open the chat, press and hold the voice note, tap Share and choose Files or Save to device. iPhone: press and hold the voice note, tap Forward, then the share icon, and choose Save to Files. WhatsApp voice notes are .opus files; Telegram uses .ogg. Both work here.

Because the transcription happens on your phone, private messages stay private. That is the main difference from bots and apps that forward your audio to a server.

Frequently asked questions

Is my recording uploaded to a server?

No. The speech model is downloaded to your browser once and the audio is transcribed on your own phone or computer. The file never leaves your device.

Why is the first transcription slower?

The first time, your browser downloads the speech model (about 40 MB for Quick, 80 MB for Balanced, 250 MB for Accurate). After that it is cached and starts in seconds, even offline.

How long can the recording be?

There is no fixed limit. An hour-long lecture works on most laptops; on a phone, recordings under about 30 minutes are more comfortable. Lines appear while it works, so you can stop at any point and keep what is done.

How do I get the voice note file from WhatsApp?

On Android, press and hold the voice note, tap Share or Forward and save it to Files. On iPhone, press and hold, tap Forward, then Share and Save to Files. Then choose it here.

It is in Hinglish. Will it work?

Mostly. Leave the language on automatic or choose Hindi. Mixed Hindi and English is harder for any speech model, so check names and numbers before you rely on them.
